Hello fellow readers and welcome to ‘Rich Kid, Poor Kid’ :)
It’s something that I came up with when I saw the ‘Star Golden Bell Challenge’ which has 3 members of SS501. I must say, Hyung Jun’s looks really awesome and I’m a bit bummed that he got his double fangs fixed :(
Oh well, I just hope that you guys will like this story ;)

Sinopsis: It’s about a middle class girl, Yeon Jun who managed to enroll into a prestigious school called ‘Kyunggi High School’ along with her best friend, Chiyoo @ Chibi. One day, there was a new transferred student, his name is Hyung Jun, super hottie but with an arrogant attitude.
Isn’t this going to be an interesting semester?

My apologies for updating so late, I’ll try my best T^T

-random fan girls screaming-

I hope that you guys will enjoy Chapter 5, it’ll be longer than the other 4 chapters. ^^

“Get in the car.”

200512181900191130_1

It was Hyung Jun. I can only stare at him and his magnificant jet black limousine. My bag fell off from my shoulder.

“What?” I asked, standing in front of his door like a handicap. Hyung Jun shook his head and got up from his car. He grabbed my wrist and picked up my bag, his hands, warm and soft. Such a strong grip.

If only they were mine.

I mentally slap myself. What am I saying here?

“I said, get in the car.” he repeated, but before I could move, he pushed me from me and I stumbled into his car. Oh my gosh, I’m inside a limousine! Hyung Jun got in the car and sat beside me, closing the door behind him. The car started moving, I begin admiring everything inside the long vehicle. The leather covered seats, extended passenger seats, 32″ plasma tv-

“Whoa! You even have a Wii in here!” I said excitedly and grabbed the remote-looking controller. Hyung Jun once again stared at me weirdly.

“Why do you act like it’s your first time riding a limousine? Don’t you have one at home?” he raised an eyebrow. I froze at his question.

“Err… Yeah, of course I do…” I lied, I know it’s wrong but I don’t want to appear pathetic in front of him. “Where are you taking me?” I tried to change the subject.

“My place. We have to discuss about the project. It’s due in two weeks so we need to get started.”

I’m surprised by his sudden change of attitude towards me.

“I’m only doing this for the sake of the projecgt, don’t get used to it.” he read my mind. I didn’t answer, but instead I looked outside of the window. I guess I should be cherishing the moment as long as I can, though I can’t let him know about my financial issues. Honestly, the only limousine I’ve ridden on was Micky’s when his parents offered to send Chibi and I home because they were heading the same direction. That was 2 years ago. Chibi’s parent’s don’t like having limousine in the driveway  because it takes too much space. They prefer mercedes, honda or BMW’s instead.

The journey was awkward and silent. There were a few coughs here and there but nothing else. I felt like breaking the silence.

“Where’s Eunnie?” I asked. I hope we can at least be good friends even though we hate each other’s gut.

“Cheer leading practice.” he answered, not looking at me.

“Oh, I didn’t know she likes cheer leading.”

He nodded and said no more. I continued staring out the window. We’re on the highway, going to God-know’s-where.

Few minutes later, we reached a huge black gate. ‘V.I.P. Lot’ says the sign on the gate. Figures. The driver displayed a card on the guard next to the gate. The guard nodded and opened the gate and the driver thanked him. We went further into the private lands, enjoying the scenery. Every single mansion that we pass by took my breath away, not a single house is average-sized, they’re built fit for a king. From mansions to manors to castle-like houses, this people don’t know what to do with their money, I’m guessing.

“We’re here.” said Hyung Jun softly, I quickly glance outside the window and my jaw dropped. The house is magnificent, or should I say the manor? The exterior design of K.H.S. is nothing compared to Hyung Jun’s manor. It has a modern design with a traditional aura lingering around it. The rooftop is decorated with royal maroon, while the walls are covered with white paint, windows are brushed with baby blue and the magnificent door matches the colour of the roof. It may sound like a colourful building but my words have done the house no justice, truly beauty for itself.

The garden which is expanded on the frontyard decorates itself with beautiful colours of red, pink, blue and purple. It is divided in the middle by a long strip of smooth white rocks which leads from the driveway to the door.

“Shall I give you a tour around the house before we start on our project?” Hyung Jun’s voice brought me back to reality as I quickly nodded in response. He lead the way to the door after thanking his driver. He put his hand on the shiny golden doorknob before looking at me first.

“I expect you to behave like a good girl once we enter the house, capiche?” his tone matches a discplinary father. I nodded yet again, in fear. He twisted the doorknob and went in, I followed him from behind. I had high expectations of the interior of the house, judging from its exterior and it certainly had not disappoint me. Iwas greeted by a bright splash of whiteness.

“This is the living room.”

The 47″ LG plasma tv hung on the gracefully on the wall, in between two bookshelves containing movies and DVDs and a home theater system. Sitting a few feet away is a long black leather coach, designed for comfort, decorated with three small maroon cushions, two long speaker stand behind the corner of the room to give a dramatic sound effect.

“Don’t touch anything,” said Hyung Jun as he saw me walking to couch, eager to touch the smooth leather. He continued walking, I followed from behind.

“This is the reading room,” he said, pointing to a room, filled with books and several bean bags. The floor is replaced with a wooly rug and a big fireplace to keep the house warm during winter. I could move into this room. The tour continued as he showed me the indoor swimming pool with a jacuzzi, a tennis court, a huge traditional over for pizza baking in the backyard, BBQ cooking set, tables and chairs for a perfect family picnic. Next, he showed me the dining room which is every chef’s dream to work in. The kitchen posseses state-of-the-art technology and stainless steel tools. They even have two personal chefs working in the kitchen. It’s so huge, I think it can fit my whole house. Next to the kitchen is the dining hall which is as beautiful as the kitchen.

“You hungry?” he asked.

“Starved.”

“Good.” he chatted with the chefs about the lunch menu. The chefs smiled and nodded and went straight to work.

“Come on, the tour isn’t over yet.” after hearing those words, I’ve noticed how tired I was from walking around the house. This place is huge. We walked up the staircase into a hallway filled with doors.

“Those two are the guestroom, 3 bathrooms, that’s my parent’s room and Eunnie’s room.” he said pointing at each door. Eunnie’s room is the most obvious because it’s decorated with cute stickers and pictures with a sign that says ‘Eunnie’s room’.

“Which is your room?” I asked.

“That is where the tour ends.” he said and turned around. I looked behind and sure enough there’s another room, like Eunnie’s, there’s a sign hanging which says ‘Private Property of Hyung Jun.’

“You just moved a few days ago and already your house is fully furnitured. It must have taken a lot of preparation.” I asked, curiously.

“Nah, it was already furnitured when my dad bought it. The previous owner was a top designer so we were fortunate. My dad bought this house for half a million, which is quite reasonable, if you ask me.”

I choked in my own spit. Half a million?! I didn’t know the house was worth that much and this bloody fellow’s dad bought it like it’s nothing!

“You okay? Do you need some water?” he looked concerned. Honestly, why isn’t he like this in school?

“I’m fine, thanks. Thanks for the tour, so where will we be doing the project? In the reading room?”

“Nope, we’re doing it in my room.” he opened the door and gestured me to go in. Awkward. I went in, only to discover that his room isn’t like any normal teenage boy’s room, but then again, he’s not like any normal teenage boy, he’s a freaking multi-billionaire’s son. Big as half a football field, his room has everything a house has, a huge tv, king-sized bed, two desktop and a laptop, Wii, PS3, four PSP lying on his bed, a bathroom, a mini library and a mini fridge.

“Wow… Your room is just… Wow.”

“Thanks.” Hyung Jun said, sheepishly. He grabbed my bag along with his and threw them on his bed. Almost immediately, we begin researching for our project.

Hyung Jun searched for more details on his desktop for our assignment while I cramped the textbook for the general notes. It’s been a few hours and we managed to fill a few pages of the folio. My eyes and hands are sore from the research and Hyung Jun is complaining of his neck pain from staring at the monitor for too long. I didn’t realised that it’s late until I heard my cellphone ringing.

Mojilke, geureohke, amureohji anhge. Mudeom deom hage, dam dam hage nae gyeoteul tteona ganayo~

“Yoboseyo?” I answered, Hyung Jun turned away from the monitor and gave a curious look.

“Choi Yeon Jun! Where are you? Do you have any idea what time it is?! I am so worried sick young lady!” I helf the phone a meter away from my ear, but her booming can still be heard. Hyung Jun gave an evil grin. Damn.

I checked my wristwatch, the two hands display 7.45 p.m. I’ve been here for four hours straight! No wonder my mom’s so worried.

“I’m sorry, mom. I guess I let time slip away. I’m at my friend’s place doing an assignment. I guess I forgot to call.”

“Don’t repeat this again, I’m warning you, Yeon Jun. Come back for dinner.” She hung up before I could say anything. I’m in so much trouble. I’ve never heard my mom this angry before.

“Need a ride home?” Hyung Jun asked politely, cocking an eyebrow at my direction. I’m surprised at his considerate nature. He’s being so nice all for the sake of the assignment? In that case, I hope Mrs. Im would assign us more projects for the whole year.

“Thanks. I really appreciate it.” I smiled. He got off his seat and pressed a button on the intercom. I packed my things while Hyung Jun talked to his driver.

“Leave the notes. I’ll summarise them up later and bring them to school tomorrow.” he said, smiling. I would give him a tight hug if he weren’t such an arrogant, schizophrenic rich hottie.

We walked down the staircase to the front foor before being stopped by Eunnie.

“Brother, where are you going? Dinner will be ready in 10 minutes-. Oh hello unnie, what are you doing here?” Eunnie asked. Hyung Jun and I looked at each other and then turned to Eunnie.

“I’m sending Yeon Jun home-” he answered.

“I was here for a history project-” I answered.

“See you later, bye Eunnie.” we both answered.

We ran to the limo and quickly went in. We were in such a rush I didn’t realised that Hyung Jun was sitting so closely beside me. His aroma filled the air, he smells wonderful, like freshly used soap. I mentally slap myself once again. What is wrong with me? I barely know the guy, I shouldn’t be like this, just because he’s good-looking. It’s so shallow.

I told the driver, Hong Dae, the direction to my house, though I only told him the name of the street and not the actually address of my house. Hong Dae nodded.

“Sorry for the trouble.” I said. Hyung Jun turned away from the window and looked at my for a few seconds, wide eyed. Then he turned to the window again.

“Don’t worry about it.” he answered lazily.

“So… What were you and Micky talked about so discreetly after school?” I asked, he looked up.

“When?”

“You know, you were waiting at the end of the hall, near the library. Chibi, Micky and I were talking, but you suddenly called Micky over. And then he gave me his books and ran towards you. You two started taking and you took out your phone and started pressing some buttons. And then-”

“Okay, I get it. You don’t have to go and tell a story.” I closed my mouth. Hyung Jun took a few deep breaths, as if debating with himself. Seconds passed then he looked at me with those beautiful intense eyes of his.

“So are you going to tell me?”

“No.” he simply answered. But before I could ask why, Hong Dae said we’ll be arriving the my street in a few minutes. Hyung Jun went back staring at the window and I decided to let him off the hook this time.

Hong Dae stopped the limo at a street near my house. The reason why I didn’t tell them the location of my house is because I’m a little embarrassed of what he’ll think of me when he sees my home. He might treat me differently if he finds out, or worse, what if he tells Ara? The horror!

“Hey, we’re here. By the way, your face is all pale. Maybe you should see a doctor.” he said. I came back to my senses and grabbed my bag.

“Err… I’m fine, really. Thanks for the ride.” I opened the door and go out. Hyung Jun wind down his window and poked his head out.

“Why did you want us to stop here? We can drive all the way to your house. Hong Dae doesn’t mind.”

“Oh, that’s okay. My house is quite far in and the condition of the road is terrible, they’re still doing renovations. That’s why Chibi and I take the subway.” I half-lied. He cocked his eyebrow again. Damn. I’m such a lousy liar.

“Whatever you say, goodnight.”

“Goodnight to you too. Thanks again for the ride and to Hong Dae too.” Hyung Jun nodded and wind up his window. I watched the limo disappear into the darkness and marched back to my house. I grew nervous with each step I take, terrified of what my mom would do to me once I’m inside the house. My mom hardly gets mad, but if she does, she makes incredibly hulk look like a timid hamster. Only a few more inches left, I walked up the stairs to the front door and dug for my keys, putting it inside the keyhole, twisting it, making a click sound indicating the lock is open, I took the key and twisted the doorknob, with a heavy heart, the front door opened wide and I stepped into the house with a gloomy feeling.

“Mom? I’m home.” I closed the door slowly behind me. There was no response. I wonder where my mom is. I decided to go up to my room and clean up before taking my dinner. On the way up to my room, I saw my mom sleeping on the couch with the tv on. I switched off the tv and put a warm blanket over her, careful not to wake her up. As I was about to head for my room again, I heard my mom said, “I’m only letting you off the hook this time, young lady.” I was so scared, I quickly ran up to my room and locked the door.

*

My mom got used to me going to Hyung Jun’s house after school that she has forgotten she was mad at me for not calling her. Thank goodness. One week has passed and Hyung Jun and I have been doing our assignment in his house for one week straight. With another week left, Hyung Jun and I are working even harder to finish it quickly before the deadline so that we can pass it up quickly and finally get some rest and hang out.

“Hey, I think we can finish this by tomorrow and pass it up on Wednesday.” Hyung Jun said before assembly. I was delighter to hear the good news.

“You think so? That’s great! I’m so fed up with history, I kept having dreams about pyramids.” Hyung Jun laughed, his nose wrinkled and his eyes became smaller. He looks so adorable. After assembly, Chibi and Micky joined us to the library because it was free period. On the way to the library, I remembered that I left my notebook in my locker.

“You guys go ahead, I’m just gonna go back and grab my notebook.”

The three heads nodded and continued walking while I walked the opposite direction. I opened my locker and took my notebook, suddenly my locker slammed itself shut. I jumped in shocked and saw a manicured hand on my locker.

“What do you want, Ara?” I asked, glaring at her. She was wearing a mocking face while her two clones fold their arms.

“You know, I’ve sacrificed myself so much for Hyung Jun.”

“What are you talking about?” I don’t like where this is going.

“Baby, I’m talking about having to accept that you, of all people, is Hyung Jun’s partner for two whole weeks. I don’t know how I can take it, knowing that you’re with my Junnie, doing who knows what. If you ask me, Mrs. Im should get her brain checked for assigning you as Hyung Jun’s partner. You’re not worthy enough to be his partner.”

“Worthy enough? Excuse me? Do you think you’re the queen of England or somehing?”

“Close.” Ara grinned, flipping her hair.

“Wake up, Ara. Hyung Jun is not yours, he is not an object that you can simply buy with daddy’s credit card. Why don’t you save this information into that brain of yours if you have one? And we’re our history assignment, stupid. What else would we be doing?”

“Oh poor Yeon Jun. Pity, naive Yeon Jun. By the end of this week, I will make him mine. I bet he only accepter you as his partner is because he feels sorry for you. Sorry that you’re not me!” she gave a high pitched laugh, her clones immitating her. She flipped her hair and walking away, still laughing like a banshee.

My face grew hot, my hands start shaking uncontrollably. I took deep breaths, trying to control my anger. Who does Ara think she is?!

I waited for a few seconds to cool down before heading back  to the library. With every step, my legs seemd to use more force and speed as I stomped to my destination. My hands still shaking and my face, hot enough to fry an egg. Not that I want to cook an egg on my face or anything.

I opened the library and saw the gang sitting at the end of the library, surrounded by mountains of books. I walked to their table, bitting my lips to avoid any sudden outburst. I took an empty seat next to Chibi and threw my notebook on the table, making a loud ‘thud’ sound. The three of them jumped in shock and stared at me. Thank goodness the librarian is partially deaf, or else I’ll be in a heap of trouble.

“What’s wrong?” Chibi asked.

“Why is your face all red?” Micky asked.

“Why are you hands shaking so violently?” Hyung Jun asked.

I didn’t answer them. Instead, I grabbed Chibi’s thick cotton jacket, slammed it to my face and screamed at the top of my lungs.

Chapter 4

Posted by: yeonjun on: January 19, 2009

“Hyung Junnie oppa?” she asked. Oh no, here comes the kiss. I guess Ara always get what she wants. Soon they’ll start dating and get engaged after graduation and elope instead of going to college, make beautiful babies together, then grow old and die happily together…

“Ara, get your ass off my table.” said Hyung Jun and slapped her hand away from his face.

Okay, maybe not.

“But Hyung Junnie-” Ara pleaded.

“Stop calling me that. Get off my table or I’ll make you.” Ara gasped and hopped off his table, pride damaged. Chibi and I tried our best to suppress our laughter while watching Ara leave the classroom. She glared at us and we burst into laughter.

“What are you laughing at?!” Ara shouted, face turning dark crimson. We continued laughing and she stomped her heels and walked off to find her two followers. Chibi and I laughed harder till our tummys’ hurt and there were tears in our eyes. Micky spotted us and asked what happened, we laughed even harder.

“Gosh, Micky, if only we had a videocam, that was priceless.” I said, wiping my tears away. Chibi’s laugh turned into giggles and chuckles.

“What’s so funny?” he asked.

“You should have been there.” I sighed and patted his shoulder.

“Why is it so hard to get some straight answers from you guys?” Micky said, annoyed. Chibi finally stopped laughing and told Micky the incident. He stared at us, wide-eyed.

“Hyung Jun told her off?” he asked in disbelief. We proudly nodded our heads, smiling triumphantly. Even though Hyung Jun and I don’t get along, what he did to Ara really made my day. Or morning. It was Micky’s turn to burst in laughter. Like us, Micky doesn’t really like Ara because of the way she treated people. The three of us entered the classroom.

“Morning, Jun-jun! Man, you really told Ara off huh?”

Jun-jun? Why is everybody giving Hyung Jun weird nicknames?Oh wait, I do that too. Surprisingly, Hyung Jun isn’t bothered.

“You saw that?” he asked, his tone showed no amusement whatsoever. Maybe he’s used to this kind of thing, girls sitting on his table, trying to seduce him. Wow.

“Why did you reject her by the way?” Micky asked. Chibi punched him. “Ow!”

“What sort of question is that?” she scolded him. Micky bowed his head.

“I did not reject her. I just told her to get off my table, that’s all.” he said and folded his arms. Wait, what? Did I just hear right? That doesn’t make any sense. Does that mean he’s giving her a chance?

“So… You like Ara then?” Micky asked bluntly. Chibi punched his arm and shouted ‘Babo!’

“She’s not bad…” said Hyung Jun, giving a sly smirk. Okay, I’ve never seen that expression before. Micky scratched his head in annoyance, thinking hard.

“Well, if you think of her that way, then why did you…? I’m confused.”

“I’m taking my time.” Hyung Jun answered simply. Micky’s ears perked up, like an excited rabbit.

“Oh I see! You’re surveying other girls first huh? Nice one, Jun-jun!” they high-fived each other. I noticed that Hyung Jun scrunches up his nose when he’s laughing, and his eyes become half moon. Cute.

“But Ara is definitely on the top of my list.” he said. I looked at him in disbelief.

“What?!” I shouted.

“What?” he asked, shocked.

“What what?!” I shouted again. He frowned at me.

“Don’t waste me with your ridiculous mindless questions. If you don’t have anything to ask, it’s better if you don’t speak.”

I can’t believe this guy! He’s going to give me high blood pressure and I’ll die from heart attack at the age of 17. My poor mother, who is going to take care of her at home? She’ll have to work extra hard to pay for my medical fees and funeral services. Then she’ll have to call our relatives to attend my funeral, and they’ll say ‘Choi Yeon Jun? Who is she? Oh well, as long as they have food at the funeral.’ And then Micky and Chibi will be there at my funeral, Chibi, wearing all black but refuses to wear a skirt, even to my own funeral. Micky might be checking out all my girl relatives there, trying to ‘comfort’ them while I’m laying there, stiff as a log in my own coffin.

I don’t want to die so soon! I’ve never had my first kiss yet! I’m still a virgin!

“You’re pale. What’s wrong with you?” Hyung Jun asked, interrupting my thoughts.

“None of your business. It’s because of you Chibi refuses to wear a skirt to my funeral and Micky only thinks about getting my relatives’ phone number!” I snapped. He looks at me weirdly and mumbled ‘retard’.

Not long before the classroom is filled with loud chatters caused by the students. Chibi and Micky were happily chatting away, laughing at each other’s jokes and slapping each other’s shoulders. They look really good together.

Unfortunately for Hyung Jun and I, it’s the total opposite. Here we are, chairs far apart from each other as possible, not making eye contact.

Ara entered the classroom, red-eyed, looking like she’s been crying for days, accompanied by Eureum and Rae, whispering comforting words to the sad princess. I guess I feel sorry for her. Not. An evil smirk formed on my lips and I chucked evilly to myself. Yes, it’s cruel to laugh at her situation, but this is Ara we’re talking about. A heartless princess that only thinks about herself. But she’s only human, said a voice. I sighed.

The ball rang indicating class has begun. No one in class cared and continued talking, but it wasn’t until Ms. Im entered the classroom then everyone returned to their seats. The whole room became quiet. Without being asked, we quickly took out our history books and turned to the first chapter.

Mrs. Im has been our history teacher for two years now. She’s very strict but also boring history teacher. And yet, which history teacher isn’t boring? She only minds if you don’t pass up her works and/or fall asleep in her class which is something I’ve bever failed to do. I doubt that Hyung Jun will try to keep me awake during her class. If only Chibi was seating next to me!

Halfway through her lesson, my eyes are starting to feel heavy. Gosh history is so boring. I wish time would hurry. I rest my chin on the table and tried to concentrate on the whiteboard. Slowly, my eye lids seem to be getting heavier and heavier and…

“Ms. Choi! Are you sleeping in my class?!” came a piercing scream. I woke up with a jerk and fell off my chair with a loud ‘thud’. The whole classroom burst into laughter, including Micky. I glared at Hyung Jun who didn’t bother to keep me awake, he replied with a smirk.

This is so embarrassing. If only there was a black hole I could disappear into. My face grew hot.

“Ms. Choi, get back to your seat now!” scolded Mrs. Im. I did as I was told, face still burning. I can hear Hyung Jun chuckling softly next to me.

“I’m letting you off with a warning, Ms. Choi. It’s only the second day, I wouldn’t expect you, a good student in 5 Alpha, to fall behind, would I?”

“No, ma’am.”

She gave me one last look and proceed to her teaching. Chibi turned around and gave a sympathetic look. I couldn’t help but turn my anger towards the devil in disguise seating next to me. I wouldn’t want to be partners with him for anything, ever. Even if you paid me a million dollars.

“Class, I have an assignment for all of you-” groans from the students went unnoticed.” -all of you are to do a project based on Chapter one topics only. You will do it in pairs, and no, you don’t get to choose your partners this time because your seating partner is also your assignment partner, for the rest of the year.”

“What?!” I slammed the table, all heads turned to my direction. Mrs. Im doesn’t look too happy.

“Ms. Choi, I would appreciate if you would stop disrupting my class. Another word from you and it’s detention for a whole month. Now, if you have any problems with your assignments or assignments partner, you can see me in my office after class.” I scowled at Mrs. Im and went back to my history book.

I’d like my millions now.

*

I’ve decided to ignore Hyung Jun the rest of the day, knowing that I will have to see him again sooner or later to discuss about our project. I saw Micky waiting outside the library, playing with his phone. It reminded me about yesterday’s deal so I’ve decided to confront him. I gave him a strong punch on his right arm.

“Ow! What the hell was that for?!”

“For laughing at me during history class, you dufus!”

“Oh…” he laughed at the memory. I punched him again.

“Ow! Okay, okay I’m sorry! Geez, you’re gonna leave a mark and I already have one on my other arm, compliments of Chibi. I don’t need another one from you, okay?”

“So did you ask Hyung Jun?”

“Yeah, I did…” Micky said. He looked afraid all of a sudden.

“And? What did he say?”

“He- well… He said… He said you were annoying. Please don’t shoot the messenger!” he said, shielding his head.

“He said I’m annoying?! But he barely knows me! How come he doesn’t think you’re annoying?!”

“Hey, hey, I’m just passing the message, okay?”

“Passing what message?” Chibi asked, coming out of the library, carrying a load of books.

“Hyung Jun said Yeon Jun’s annoying. Whoa! Is all that for our project?!” Micky said pointing at the books, wide-eyed.

“Yep. You better help me carry some. These books aren’t exactly light.” Micky reluctantly helped Chibi to carry some books for her.

“Aww. You two look so sweet. Now back to my situation!” I whined. Chibi sighed.

“You two have just got to work it out yourselves. Micky and I are tied up at the moment.” Chibi said, sympathetically. Suddenly we saw Hyung Jun standing at the end of the hall, arms folded, looking at us. I glared at him. He ignored me.

“Micky.” he mouthed and gestured Micky to come over. Micky nodded and gave me his books and ran to Hyung Jun.

“What does the asshole want.” I said. Chibi and I stared at the two boys. We saw Micky nodding and mumbling something while Hyung Jun took out his phone and started punching the buttons.

“I don’t know, but must be something urgent by the looks of it.” After a while, Hyung Jun patted Micky’s shoulder and said something like ‘thanks’ before waving at Chibi and walked away. He ignored me again.

Micky came back and took back his books.

“Thanks.” he said.

“What did Hyung Jun want?” I asked.

“Oh, nothing important. Come on, Chibi, we can do our project at my place, my parents are out so they need me to take care of the house.”

“Don’t change the subject Park Yoochun!” but Micky was already walking out of the hall. Chibi patted my back.

“It’s okay, I’ll call you tonight okay? Try sorting things out with Hyung Jun if you want to get that project done.” she gave me one last pat before leaving to catch up with Micky.

“Hey, don’t forget to use protection, you two!” I said in a mocking tone. I can’t believe my two best friends would abandon me like that. I groaned and scratched my head in annoyance. I hate taking the train alone.

Once out of the school, a black limousine stopped in front of me. It took me a while to notice the familiar vehicle. The black tinted window slid down.

“Get in the car.”

Chapter 3

Posted by: yeonjun on: January 17, 2009

“And this is Yeon Jun, my big sister.” Micky said, proudly. Chibi and I rolled our eyes and laughed. Hyung Jun seemed to be uninterested, he simply nodded and continued eating. His expression turned stone cold again. What the! He didn’t even offer a handshake? Is there something wrong with me?

Finally the first day of school is over. The bell rang and everyone rushed out of class, everyone but the four of us; Chibi, Micky, Hyung Jun and I. Chibi and I took our time packing our belongings while the boys chatted and waited for us.

Once outside of school, we saw Eunnie waiting near a black limousine.

“Hi brother,” she said. Hyung Jun nodded.

“How was your first day of school, Eunnie?” I asked. Hyung Jun looked at me weirdly.

“You know my sister?” he asked.

“Oh yeah! I forgot to tell you, brother, Yeon Jun unnie was the one that asked me to sit with her during assembly and helped me make new friends.” she beamed, eyes sparkling at her brother. Wow, how can someone be so darn good looking? It’s so unfair.

“Really? How nice.” answered Hyung Jun lovingly, smiling at his beaming sister. My jaw dropped for the second time. What is wrong with this guy? He’s super friendly to my friends, he’s a loving brother but he acts like a total asshole around me!

“Close your mouth or else you’ll catch flies.” Hyung Jun said, looking at me with his intense eyes. I mentally slap myself and closed my mouth. Fuck, that was embarrassing. I didn’t realised that he was looking at me the whole time. Chibi and Micky simply stared, like viewers watching a drama series. Even Eunnie stared.

“How are you going back home?” he asked. Chibi elbowed me and then I realised that he was asking me the question.

“Huh? Oh, by train. Why do you ask?” He rolled his eyes.

“Ugh.” he said in disgust and made a face. That was the sexiest thing I’ve ever seen. I think I mentally drooled all over myself He walked to the limousine and opened the door. “Get in, Eunnie.” Eunnie obeyed and waved goodbye before getting in the car.

“Excuse me?” I asked, shocked by his reaction. I don’t know if I can put up with this guy, let alone a whole year.

“I hate subways,” he said and got in the car. “See you later, Micky. Come to my place around 2, you can stay for dinner if you like. Nice meeting you, Chibi.” he saluted them and closed the door. The car sped off school grounds and disappeared. I let out a frustrated sigh and slowly counted from one to ten.

“Hey, you okay? Your face is all red and there are like… Whoa! You have veins popping out of your forehead!” Micky said. Chibi punched his arm. “Ow! What was that for?!” Chibi shook her head and mumbled ‘Idiot.’.

“Did you see what he did just now?” I asked, angrily.

“He… closed the car door?” Micky asked in a soft voice, afraid of getting punched again. Chibi slapped her forehead.

“Chibi, you saw everything right? Is there something wrong with me? Am I wearing an ‘anti-Hyung Jun’ deodorant or something?” Chibi laughed, Micky still looked clueless about the whole situation.

“No, I don’t think such a deodorant exists. But honestly, I don’t know what is his problem either. Micky, why don’t you ask him?” Chibi said, elbowing him. He stared at her like she’s crazy.

“I don’t even know what’s going on! How am I supposed to ask?!” he shouted.

“Haven’t you noticed that Hyung Jun’s been ignoring Yeon Jun’s existence the whole day? It’s like she doesn’t even exist, he looks at her like she’s a maniac, treats her like a door mat, he’s nice to us, but when he’s talking to her, he’s -”

“Okay! I think we get the point.”

“Oh, now that you’ve mentioned it, he has been quite mean to you, but he’s okay with everybody else.” Micky said thoughtfully. I frowned at his sensitivity.

“So can you ask what is his problem? Since you’re going to his house today.”

“I’ll try, big sis.” he winked. “Anyway, I’ve got to be on my way. See you ladies tomorrow.”

*

I arrived home and rushed up to my room, to my sanctuary. I threw my school bag on my bed and switched on my computer. It wasn’t surprising to see Chibi going online the same time I did.

yeonjun91: yo what’s up.
chibisuke: lol, i just arrived home.
yeonjun91: same here. it’s omost 3, do you think micky asked him yet?
chibisuke: who?

I slapped my forehead. Are all of my friends suffering from Alzheimer’s disease today?

yeonjun91: hyung jun! who else?
chibisuke: ok, ok, don’t hv 2 shout.
yeonjun91: i’m not shouting!!
chibisuke: excessive usage of exclamation points online is equivalent to shouting in real life.
yeonjun91: … i hate you.
chibisuke: love u 2.

Suddenly a pop-up appeared. hyung_eunnie is requesting for a friend approval. Please click yes to accept her approval. I approved Eunnie’s request and she immediately sent me a message.

hyung_eunnie: annyeong hasaeyo unnie!
yeonjun91: hey eunnie, how did you get my add?
hyung_eunnie: oh, micky oppa told me ^^
yeonjun91: oic. where is he now?
hyung_eunnie: he’s at the living room with my bro, watching tv.
yeonjun91: oh, did you hear them talking abt-

hyung_eunnie has changed his/her status to ‘Away’. He/She might not be able to reply your message immediately.

That’s strange.

yeonjun91: eunnie added me just now.
chibisuke: hw did she get ur add?
yeonjun91: micky gave it to her, but she was already away before i had the chance to ask anything else.
chibisuke: dat sux.

“Yeon Jun! Help me to set up the table!” called my mom from downstairs.

yeonjun91: gtg, lunch time.
chibisuke: c ya.

I logged off and went downstairs to help my mom set up the table. My mom is a very petite woman but with a strong spirit. She’s been working very hard to support the two of us every since my dad passed away 5 years ago. My mom started her own laundry service right months after his passing, right in our own house. Her business is doing quite well and my mom has many loyal customers because she does a great job with her customer’s laundry and her services aren’t costly. Everybody loves my mom. Sometimes I help her to fold the clothes after school, when I’m not busy with homework or exams. Some customers are too busy to pick up their laundry, so we offer a delivery service too, with my trusty bike. Though I don’t take my bike to school because it’s too far.

My mom’s second job is working part time as a cleaning maid at a 3 star hotel, Starview Hotel, every Saturday and Sundays, so I usually have the whole house to myself on weekends.

Only Chibi and Micky knows about my mom’s working background because I know I can trust them. It’s not that I’m ashamed of my mom’s jobs, it’s just that if anyone in K.H.S. finds out, or worse, if Ara finds out, I’ll be the laughing stalk of the school till graduation. So I think it’s better if no one finds out about it.

After lunch, I helped my mom fold the laundry and put them into separate bags for the customers to pick up. By the time I finished folding and separating, it was already evening. I turned on the TV.

“Yeon Jun, it’s your turn to cook dinner.” my mom said and took over my tv seat. We take turns cooking dinner evey day. It’s my mom’s way of teaching me to be more independent when I go to college. But college is much more expensive than K.H.S. so my mom sometimes pressures me to get a scholarship. Though my mom doesn’t know this, I’m actually secretly planning to travel around the world with Chibi after our graduation. College can wait.

I went to the kitchen and started preparing the food. I’m not a very good cook, unlike my mom who is a great chef, but I make better pastas.

After dinner, I washed the dishes, kissed my mom goodnight and went up to my room to do some light reading for tomorrow’s subjects. As I opened my history book, I begin to wonder if Micky has asked Hyung Jun yet. I shook my head, why should I care? He’s just a guy who happens to be sitting next to me in every class for the whole year. Maybe that’s why I should care. How can you sit next to a guy that treats you like crap for a whole year?

I cringed at the thought and went focused on my history. Moments passed and my eyes started to feel heavy. I closed the textbook and packed my school bag. After brushing my teeth, I climbed into my lovely bed and fell asleep.

The hallway looked very familiar, like a high school corridor. I realised that I was standing at K.H.S.’s hallway, what am I doing here in the school? Slowly the corridor began to fill up with students, but their faces were unclear. I decided to ask a random student.

“Excuse me, is there an event going on in the school?” I asked, but he ignored me and continued walking. That’s odd. I walked around and stumbled upon my classroom. I can hear two people talking, a boy and a girl. I peeped inside the classroom and saw Ara sitting on the boy’s table, making eye contact with him. It’s Hyung Jun.

“Hyung Junnie, why don’t you sit with me instead of that awful Yeon Jun? You and I belong together.” she gave a high pitched giggle and touched Hyung Jun’s angelic face. I think I’m going to be sick. Suddenly Hyung Jun got up and got closer to Ara. She blushed.

“Hyung Junnie Oppa?” she asked. Hyung Jun ignored her and pulled her into a deep passionate kiss.

I was so shocked from the kiss that my eyes opened with a jerk. My forehead was drenched in cold sweat and my breathing was slow and heavy. What a nightmare. I looked at the clock, it’s 5.45 in the morning. Fearing going back to sleep, I went and took my shower. It was only a dream, I kept telling myself. More like a nightmare, replied the voice in my head.

After getting dressed, I went down and made my breakfast. Chibi arrived a few minutes later. I bid my mom goodbye and walked to the train station with Chibi.

“You okay? You look a little pale.” she asked, looking concerned.

“What? Uh… Yeah I’m fine.” I answered, but my voice came out hoarse. Chibi looked skeptical but didn’t say anything more.

I wonder if my dream was trying to tell me something. Ara and Hyung Jun, like I said, those two deserve each other. But I was only kidding when I said that, it can’t be possible true… Can it?

Chibi and I were one of the early birds to arrive in school as there weren’t many students around yet. We walked to our classroom and heard voices from outside. It’s like having a deja vu. Chibi and I peeped inside and saw Ara and Hyung Jun. She’s sitting cross-legged on Hyung Jun’s table, making eye contact and smiling seductively.

“What is she doing?” Chibi whispered. I shrugged.

“Hyung Junnie, why don’t you sit with me instead of that awful Yeon Jun? You and I belong together.” she gave a high pitched giggle and touched Hyung Jun’s face.

“Bitch.” Chibi muttered. “Shhh…”

Hyung Jun got up and moved closer to Ara. She blushed. It’s exactly in my dream!

“Hyung Junnie oppa?” she asked. Oh no, here comes the kiss. I guess Ara always get what she wants. Soon they’ll start dating and get engaged after graduation and elope instead of going to college, make beautiful babies together, then grow old and die happily together…

“Ara…” Hyung Jun said, in his deep voice.

“Hyung Junnie oppa…”

Chapter 2

Hyung Jun’s school hairstyle

All eyes on the door, it’s like a movie on slow-mo, with the sound of a pounding heartbeat as the background music, anticipating the new student that will be spending a whole year with us.

A black leather shoe came in view, revealing a long pair of black trousers, followed by a long-sleeved white collared uniform. His neck tie hung loosely around his collar, his neck thick and long.

Immediately everything went back to normal speed and everyone held their breath. We always get excited over a new student, but somehow, this guy is much more special. We, I mean as in 5 Alpha class. There are 3 different classes in K.H.S.; Alpha, Beta and Omega. Alpha is for genuises, Beta are for the averages and Omega is for the rich and stupid. They have the money, just not the brains.

He walked into the classroom and stood next to Ms. Ruo. She looked like midget next to him because he was quite tall, about 6ft with slightly broad shoulders. The first thing I noticed about him was his intense and angry-looking eyes. They’re so intense that its impossible to break eye contact with him, it’s like being sucked into a black hole, but in a good way.

The next thing I noticed was his gorgeous hair. It’s thick, spiky and long. He dyed some parts of his hair with different shades of brown while the leaving the rests black. He looks more like a pop idol. I guess looks runs in the family since Eunnie looks gorgeous herself.

His lips, how do I even describe it; soft, pink and lucious. His skin is flawless and totally pimple-free, it makes me feel very self-conscience about my own skin. Its like he went for a facial or something. Overall, he’s… stunning.

That was before I realised that the whole world froze while I was examining him because right after checking him out from bottom to top, it was Chibi’s short intake of breath that brought back to my senses.

So this is Eunnie’s brother.

“He’s freakin’ hot.” she said not taking her big eyes off him. I nodded mentally. His face showed no sign of any expression, it remained stone cold. Even with good looks, he has a strong arrogant aura around him. I dislike arrogant.

“Mind introducing yourself to your new classmates, Mr. Kim?” said Ms. Ruo. He bowed to her respectedly before facing us. We held our breath again. I wonder why are we making such a big deal out of this guy. This really hot guy.

“Annyeong hasaeyo. My name is Kim Hyung Jun, I just transferred from DaeSung High School. I hope to get along well with all of you.” he said and bowed politely, but his expression remained cold. The girls gave a soft squeal while Chibi and I rolled our eyes.

“Don’t worry, Yeon Jun. You’re definitely not his type.” said Ara arrogantly. She flipped her hair back and giggled to her best friends, Eureum and Rae.

Like I’ve mentioned, most students in K.H.S. are really nice, Ara on the other hand, isn’t. Her father owns several oil companies which makes her a billionaire’s daughter. Her father calls her ‘princess’ which she likes to think that she is. Though she’s blessed with good looks and a killer body, she’s really spoiled and annoying. Also she gets decent grades in class so you can’t actually say that she’s a dumb blonde, though Chibi and I like to think so.

Eureum and Rae on the other hand are genuine dumb blondes because they dyed their hair platinum blonde and they’re best friends with Ara, (also they get paid to be her best friend) and they get the worst grades. I’m still wondering how did they end up in this class in the first place.

“Like you are? I’m sure he’s not interested in bitches, Ara.” I retorted and gave her a mean smile. Ara glarred with her fake eyelashes and rolled her eyes. Ara and I have been ‘enemies’ ever since we first stepped into this shcool. All because I wouldn’t let her cut in line during recess.

“Thank you, Mr. Kim. Why don’t you look for a temporary seat at the back while I make an announcement? Alright class, this year the seating arrangements will be different from last year. Last year, you were free to sit wherever you please, but this year, the Principal has suggested that the male students are to be seated with the female students. It’s a way to help improve the discipline of the students.”

“What?!” Chibi and I shouted, along with a few other students. Chibi and I have been sitting next to each other since Form 3, who is going to keep me awake during history classes if she sits with someone else?!

“I’m sorry class, but I don’t make the rules here. I have the list with me, when I call out your name, you and your partner will seat accordingly. You will remain in this position in every class till the end of the year. No questions asked.”

My shoulders dropped. Oh great, what a way to start the first day of class. Ms. Ruo begins reading from the list as the other studetns got up and sat with their partners. Some were happy about the new seating arrangements, while the others, like me, are not.

“Shim Chi Yoo, Park Yoo Chun, second column, front.” I gave Chibi a puppy dog face as I watch her pack her things and walk to the front row with Micky. She gave me a sad smile.

Yoo Chun, or ‘Micky’ is a really great guy, fun personality, funny and very talkative, but quite the player. Can’t blame him, since he’s good looking and his voice makes you feel like you’re on cloud 9. Did I mention that he’s a great singer? I just realised that K.H.S. has many good-looking students.

“Choi Yeon Jun, Kim Hyung Jun, secound column, middle-” my head quickly turn to Ms. Ruo. I look at her wider eyes, she’s pairing me up with Mr. Arrogant?! I quickly raise my arm.

“But Ms. Ruo-”

“No buts, Ms. Choi. Please take your seat with Mr. Kim.” she said and continued reading from the list. I grumbled and packed my things half-heartedly. I walked to the middle row, but accidentally tripped on my chair, at the same time Mr. Pop idol was walking to my direction and I bumped into him.

“Oh, I’m so sorry.” I apologised and started picking up his books.

“Watch where you’re going. Don’t touch me again.” he said, his voice deep, and grabbed his books from my hands and proceeded to his seat. I just stared at him. Surprisingly no one else saw what had happened. I sat down and looked at the white board, ignoring the arrogant asshole.

After everyone has settled in their new seat positions, Ms. Ruo began handing our new class schedule. Chibi, who is sitting in front of me, turned behind.

“We have Chemistry first.” she said in a whiny voice.
“Oh that sucks.” I said.

Suddenly, Micky turned around too.

“Hey Hyung Jun, how’s your opinion of K.H.S. so far?” he asked, giving an adorable smile.

“It’s okay,” came a reply, “I don’t know anyone yet.” He said, his expression softened. What amazed me was that Hyung Jun is being incredibly friendly toward Micky. What happened to Mr. Arrogant just a few moments ago? Maybe he’s only friendly to guys. I better watch out for this guy.

Micky suddenly became Hyung Jun’s new best friend because they go everywhere together, even to the toilet, and seem to share a lot of things in common by the looks of it.

The bell rang indicating another class is over. I was the last one to leave the classroom, but before I could reach the door, someone pulled the back of my collar hard, almost choking me.

“Hey!” I stumbled a few steps back. Ara closed the door while Eureum and Rae cornered me. Ara put her hands on her hips and gave me a ‘diva’ look.

“So, you’ve been assigned as Hyung Junnie’s partner-” she began. I coughed my laughter.

“Hyung Junnie?” I lauged.

“Yes, my Hyung Junnie. Don’t even think of trying to make a pass at him. He’s mine.”

“Ara, he doesn’t even know you.” her face flushed.

“Oh, he will. I’ll make sure of that. But I’ll be watching you, any signs of fraternizing or flirting you’re dead meat, Yeon Jun.” I rolled my eyes and pushed them away.

“You know that he won’t even look at her, Ara. He’ll only be amazed by your beauty.” said Eureum.

“You’re right, Reum. I shouldn’t worry, who wouldn’t look at me?” the three girls laughed loudly and I slammed the door behind me. Ugh, why do people like them exist in this world? Few minutes after meeting the guy and she’s already given him a pet name. Maybe they deserve each other, Mr. Pop idol and Ms. Diva. I bet it’ll appear in the cover of a magazine or something because knowing Ara, it’ll be overdramatic and expensive.

*

Halfthe day has gone by quickly as it was time for recess. As usual, I’d be the first one in line and Chibi behind me, waiting for me to get my food. Slowly the cafeteria started to get crowded, Chibi and I quickly took our seats.

“Hey girls,” Micky said, randomly. We jumped in shocked. “Mind if I join ya?”

“Sure, grab a seat.” Micky took a seat next to Chibi.

“I hope you don’t mind, I’m adding a new addition to our group.”

“Micky, no, no… Please, no-” I pleaded but he pretended not to hear me and waved to a figure.

“Hyung Jun! Over here!” he shouted. Hyung Jun nodded and walked to our table. I noticed that seat next to mine is empty. Please don’t sit there, please don’t sit here, I prayed silently.

Unfortunately, he took the seat next to me and we made eye contact for a few seconds. It wasn’t a romantic moment, but more like a staring battle. You can feel the electricity and sparks coming out from our eyes. Micky tried to cut the connection by coughing loudly.

“So Hyung Jun, I guess you haven’t been properly introduced to the girls yet, huh?”

“Nope,” he said, taking a sip of his soup. Yet again he’s being really friendly towards Micky.

“Don’t worry buddy, you stick with me and I’ll show you all the hot babes in K.H.S.” he put his arms around Hyung Jun with a huge grin plastered on his face.

“Sounds good.” he smiled. A talker, he is not.

“Okay, first I’d like you to meet my great buddy. This is Chiyoo, but we call her ‘Chibi’.” Micky said putting his arms around her, she smiled.

“Hello Chibi, pleasure to meet you.” he gave her a genuine smile and shook her hand. My jaw dropped. What the hell? I thought he was only nice to guys, but he’s nice to girls too! What am I? An alien? Wait, don’t answer that.

“And this is Yeon Jun, my big sister.” Micky said, proudly. Chibi and I rolled our eyes and laughed. Hyung Jun seemed to be uninterested, he simply nodded and continuing eating. His expression turned stone cold again. What the! He didn’t even offer a handshake? Is there something wrong with me?

Chapter 1

Posted by: yeonjun on: January 12, 2009

Trapped in an abandoned kingdom in a land far far away, I waited patiently for my knight in shining armor to come and rescue me. I sat there, staring out my window into the horizon, watching the sunset as I sigh to myself.
Suddenly the door burst open, and there stood something so beautiful, that it was beyond words.

“Do not fear, my fair maiden. I am here to rescue you from this dreadful place.”

He took me into a warm embrace. As we grew closer, I could feel his warm breath before we…

“Yeon Jun! Wake up or else you’ll be late for school!” came my mom’s booming voice from downstairs. I jerked from my sleep and wiped off the drool from my lips.

“I’m up! I’m up!” I shouted. The clock displayed 6.45 a.m. Shit! It’s the first day of school and I’m already late!

“Chiyoo is here! You better hurry up!” my mom shouted again. Double shit! I quickly jumped into my school uniform and tripped over the knee high socks. Stupid socks, I cursed. I grab my school bag and ran down the stairs making a huge racket. Chiyoo, my best friend is sitting at the living room, waiting patiently. Chiyoo is more tomboyish compared to most of the girls here and the smartest people I know. She managed to convinced her mom to cut her hair super short and stylish to pull of the tomboy look and it fits her really well. She’s been my best friend since we were in diapers.

“Sorry I’m late, Chibi…” I said putting on my shoes.
“It’s alright. It’s the first day of school anyway, everyone will be late. Keke.” She gave a small evil grin.
“Unfortunately for you, I hate being late. Let’s go!”
“But I – Whoa!” I grabbed her arm and raced out the doorstep.

*

“I’m hungry,” I complained while my tummy grumbled.
“Here, have some of my bread,” Chibi offered generously. Another best thing about Chibi is that she always comes well prepared. Her house is always packed with food because her mom likes to cook, a lot, and she can’t finish them all so she brings some for me, her trusty dustbin.
“Don’t mind if I do.” I grabbed her bread and took big bites. We walked to the train station and bought our tickets. Everyday we would take the train to school because our parents think that it’s a good exercise for us because Chibi and I are always glued to the computer screen.

It’s a hobby, Chibi and I would always say when our parents nag at us about staying indoors most of the time. But our parents can’t complain too much because we get good grades in school and we keep out of trouble. Most of the time. *evil grin*

Though Chibi and I share many common things, we have slightly different characters. Chibi is very elegant, even for a tomboy. Even though I label myself as somewhere in between feminine and tomboy, I’m clumsier than a bull in a china shop. That’s why I carry band-aids with me at all times for safety. Chibi brings a handful with her too in case I ran out.

“Attention all Kyunggi Students, the last train to Kyunggi High School will leave in 5 minutes. Attention all Kyunggi Students, the last train to Kyunggi High School will-”

“WHAT! What happened to all the other trains?!” I shouted at the speakers.

“We are sorry for any inconvenience.” came a reply from the speaker.

“Come on, we better hurry if we want to catch that train.” Chibi said and we ran to the escalators to the trains.

“Did she mention which station it’ll be?”
“Err… No… I don’t think she did…”
“FUCK!”

Chibi and I ran across crowds collecting a few shoulder bumps and loud ‘ouch!’s’. Panicking, we searched desperately for the train through a sea of heads, but with no success.

“Attention all Kyunggi Students, the last train to Kyunggi High School will leave in 2 minutes. Attention all-”

“We know already!!”

“There! I see the train!” Chibi said, pointing at a light blue train at the end of the hall. Sure enough there are students boarding the train, Kyunggi students no doubt, not wanting to be late for the first day of school.

“Run Chibi!” I grabbed her hand and pushed through the crowds like a rugby player trying to get a touchdown.

“I’m running! I’m running!” came a squeaky voice from behind. We managed to get past the crowds and reach the end of the station. The guard nearby the train double checked the passangers and went out of the train to close the door.

“WAIT!! WAIT FOR US!!”

The guard jumped in shock to see two girls in uniform running towards him, screaming like banshees and flinging their arms in the air. We stopped in front of him, trying to catch our breath, sweat dripping down our foreheads.

“Get in before you’re late,” he said, clutching his chest and slowly opening the train doors. We thanked him and stepped in the train. Inside, many students were giggling and pointing fingers at us.

“Great, we’re not even in school yet and we’re already laughing stalks.” Chibi complained and plopped on a seat. My tummy grumbled.

“I’m hungry again.” I said in a small voice.

*

Did I forget to mention that we’re seniors? Chibi and I and the rest of the seniors of Kyunggi High School will be graduating this year and soon be taking our college entrance exams. Kyunggi High School is a very prestigious school and also the most expensive. Only the rich and the gifted are enrolled in this school. Sadly my mom’s salary isn’t enough to pay the school fees so she has to work two jobs just to pay for my education, and sometimes I help her out. Chibi’s parents work for the government so her parents are loaded. But unlike most rich snobs, Chibi doesn’t care much about her wealth.

K.H.S. is well known for its academics and curicullar reputation achieved by students of the school. That is why the goverment gave the school its very own private train and bus transport specially for the students to ride to school.

The school is also known for its grand architecture and symmetrical design. It pretty much has everything, from a gymnasium to a hockey field to a ice skating rink. This is because many of the parents like to donate large sums of wealth to the school for the benefit of their children. I’ve heard that even the President’s daughter was a student here.

Don’t get me wrong, even though the students of K.H.S. are gifted and incredibly wealthy, most of them are really nice and normal. Mostly.

“Welcome back, girls.” greeted the Principal.

“Thank you, Mrs. Young Kee.” we answered in unison.

Mrs. Young Kee is a very strict woman but also very fair. If you stick to her rules, you’ll be fine.

Chibi and I checked the list of classrooms which is posted on the bulletin board at the school’s entrance. I quickly scan for mine and Chibi’s name. Chiyoo was given her famous nickname ‘Chibi’ was because of her stature, though I’m not bragging that I’m tall either, but let’s just say that I can see over a crowd much better.

“We’re in the same class!!” I screamed, causing a few heads to turn and a few mean looks.

“Awesome, 3 years in a row.” Chibi nodded in approval.

“This goes to show that they can’t seperate us.” I linked elbows with Chibi as we walk to the assembly hall for assembly.

“Or was it because you begged them to always put us in the same class for 3 years running?” Chibi raised an eyebrow and showing a toothy grin. My face grew hot and I made a face.

“Hurry before we’re late for assembly.” I said and ran to the hall.

“Hey! Wait!” Chibi shouted and chased after me.

The assembly hall of K.H.S. is just as grand as the exterior of the school. We have 5 air conditioners, 8 wall speakers and 2 more on the stage, 3 dressing rooms, instruments and automatic curtains.

“Excuse me, is this the assembly hall?” came a soft voice behind me. I turned around and saw a little girl, looking lost and nervous.

“Yes it is. Are you a first year?” I asked, trying to be friendly. Chibi went to look for seats.

The little girl nodded. “My brother and I just got transferred here. He’s a senior too, I think.”

“Oh, where is your brother?”

“He’s probably still talking with my dad in the limousine.” she shrugged. Wow, this girl must be stinkin’ rich. I looked around and noticed that most of the students have already seated.

“How about you sit next to me during assembly and we’ll find your brother after, is that okay?” she nodded and we went to sit next to Chibi.

“My name is Kim Hyung Eun, by the way. And thanks for helping me.” said the Hyung Eun. She took my hand and shook it gently. Soft hands. Her nervousness has seem to have disappeared.

“You’re welcome, Hyung Eun. This is my friend Chiyoo, but also famously known as ‘Chibi’.” they both exchange hand shakes.

“You can just call me ‘Eunnie’.” she said with a smile. This girl is really cute. She looks more like a child model than a student.

Everyone stood up when Mrs. Young Kee entered the hall and sat back down after she has seated.

After singing the national anthem and school song, Mrs. Young Kee made some announcements.

“Good morning and welcome back to K.H.S. I hope your holidays have been enjoyable.” There was a loud murmur and a few nodding heads. Even the teachers approved by smiling and chatting with the other teachers about their vacations.

“Settle down, settle down. First I would like to give a big welcome to the first years, or Form 1 students to K.H.S.” Chibi and I applauded loudly along with the other students. Eunnie’s cheeks turned slightly pink.

“Secondly, let us welcome two new transferred students to the Kyunggi family. I’ll save the embarrassment by only mentioning your names and classes. Give a warm welcome to Kim Hyung Eun, 1 Alpha-”

“Yeah! Eunnie!!” I shouted and elbowed her. Her cheeks turned redder and gave a sheepish smile.
“And her brother, Kim Hyung Jun, 5 Alpha…”
“Hey, he’s in the same class as us.” Chibi said.
“Hmmm…”

“You’ll get to see my brother.” Eunnie smiled.

*

After assembly, Chibi, Eunnie and I walked out of the hall.

“Oh! I see my brother! I have to go, thanks again unnie-chans!! I’ll see you around.” said Eunnie, as she run towards a figure with his back facing towards us. The bell rang indicating class has begun. Chibi and I walked to our homeroom and took our seats. There were some familiar faces from last year and also some new faces.

Our homeroom teacher last year, Ms. Ruo entered the classroom. Everyone in the class cheered. Ms. Ruo is a very young and kind teacher. She also has the looks to match her personality. Not surprisingly, the male teachers and even students are constantly chasing after her. Chibi and I are pretty close with Ms. Ruo.

“Good morning, class.” she said.
