Hey guys! Sorry that it has almost been a month since I’ve updated ‘ Rich Kid, Poor Kid’, so now I’m back with Chapter 5. Woot!
-random fan girls screaming-
I hope that you guys will enjoy Chapter 5, it’ll be longer than the other 4 chapters. ^^
“Get in the car.”

It was Hyung Jun. I can only stare at him and his magnificant jet black limousine. My bag fell off from my shoulder.
“What?” I asked, standing in front of his door like a handicap. Hyung Jun shook his head and got up from his car. He grabbed my wrist and picked up my bag, his hands, warm and soft. Such a strong grip.
If only they were mine.
I mentally slap myself. What am I saying here?
“I said, get in the car.” he repeated, but before I could move, he pushed me from me and I stumbled into his car. Oh my gosh, I’m inside a limousine! Hyung Jun got in the car and sat beside me, closing the door behind him. The car started moving, I begin admiring everything inside the long vehicle. The leather covered seats, extended passenger seats, 32″ plasma tv-
“Whoa! You even have a Wii in here!” I said excitedly and grabbed the remote-looking controller. Hyung Jun once again stared at me weirdly.
“Why do you act like it’s your first time riding a limousine? Don’t you have one at home?” he raised an eyebrow. I froze at his question.
“Err… Yeah, of course I do…” I lied, I know it’s wrong but I don’t want to appear pathetic in front of him. “Where are you taking me?” I tried to change the subject.
“My place. We have to discuss about the project. It’s due in two weeks so we need to get started.”
I’m surprised by his sudden change of attitude towards me.
“I’m only doing this for the sake of the projecgt, don’t get used to it.” he read my mind. I didn’t answer, but instead I looked outside of the window. I guess I should be cherishing the moment as long as I can, though I can’t let him know about my financial issues. Honestly, the only limousine I’ve ridden on was Micky’s when his parents offered to send Chibi and I home because they were heading the same direction. That was 2 years ago. Chibi’s parent’s don’t like having limousine in the driveway because it takes too much space. They prefer mercedes, honda or BMW’s instead.
The journey was awkward and silent. There were a few coughs here and there but nothing else. I felt like breaking the silence.
“Where’s Eunnie?” I asked. I hope we can at least be good friends even though we hate each other’s gut.
“Cheer leading practice.” he answered, not looking at me.
“Oh, I didn’t know she likes cheer leading.”
He nodded and said no more. I continued staring out the window. We’re on the highway, going to God-know’s-where.
Few minutes later, we reached a huge black gate. ‘V.I.P. Lot’ says the sign on the gate. Figures. The driver displayed a card on the guard next to the gate. The guard nodded and opened the gate and the driver thanked him. We went further into the private lands, enjoying the scenery. Every single mansion that we pass by took my breath away, not a single house is average-sized, they’re built fit for a king. From mansions to manors to castle-like houses, this people don’t know what to do with their money, I’m guessing.
“We’re here.” said Hyung Jun softly, I quickly glance outside the window and my jaw dropped. The house is magnificent, or should I say the manor? The exterior design of K.H.S. is nothing compared to Hyung Jun’s manor. It has a modern design with a traditional aura lingering around it. The rooftop is decorated with royal maroon, while the walls are covered with white paint, windows are brushed with baby blue and the magnificent door matches the colour of the roof. It may sound like a colourful building but my words have done the house no justice, truly beauty for itself.
The garden which is expanded on the frontyard decorates itself with beautiful colours of red, pink, blue and purple. It is divided in the middle by a long strip of smooth white rocks which leads from the driveway to the door.
“Shall I give you a tour around the house before we start on our project?” Hyung Jun’s voice brought me back to reality as I quickly nodded in response. He lead the way to the door after thanking his driver. He put his hand on the shiny golden doorknob before looking at me first.
“I expect you to behave like a good girl once we enter the house, capiche?” his tone matches a discplinary father. I nodded yet again, in fear. He twisted the doorknob and went in, I followed him from behind. I had high expectations of the interior of the house, judging from its exterior and it certainly had not disappoint me. Iwas greeted by a bright splash of whiteness.
“This is the living room.”
The 47″ LG plasma tv hung on the gracefully on the wall, in between two bookshelves containing movies and DVDs and a home theater system. Sitting a few feet away is a long black leather coach, designed for comfort, decorated with three small maroon cushions, two long speaker stand behind the corner of the room to give a dramatic sound effect.
“Don’t touch anything,” said Hyung Jun as he saw me walking to couch, eager to touch the smooth leather. He continued walking, I followed from behind.
“This is the reading room,” he said, pointing to a room, filled with books and several bean bags. The floor is replaced with a wooly rug and a big fireplace to keep the house warm during winter. I could move into this room. The tour continued as he showed me the indoor swimming pool with a jacuzzi, a tennis court, a huge traditional over for pizza baking in the backyard, BBQ cooking set, tables and chairs for a perfect family picnic. Next, he showed me the dining room which is every chef’s dream to work in. The kitchen posseses state-of-the-art technology and stainless steel tools. They even have two personal chefs working in the kitchen. It’s so huge, I think it can fit my whole house. Next to the kitchen is the dining hall which is as beautiful as the kitchen.
“You hungry?” he asked.
“Starved.”
“Good.” he chatted with the chefs about the lunch menu. The chefs smiled and nodded and went straight to work.
“Come on, the tour isn’t over yet.” after hearing those words, I’ve noticed how tired I was from walking around the house. This place is huge. We walked up the staircase into a hallway filled with doors.
“Those two are the guestroom, 3 bathrooms, that’s my parent’s room and Eunnie’s room.” he said pointing at each door. Eunnie’s room is the most obvious because it’s decorated with cute stickers and pictures with a sign that says ‘Eunnie’s room’.
“Which is your room?” I asked.
“That is where the tour ends.” he said and turned around. I looked behind and sure enough there’s another room, like Eunnie’s, there’s a sign hanging which says ‘Private Property of Hyung Jun.’
“You just moved a few days ago and already your house is fully furnitured. It must have taken a lot of preparation.” I asked, curiously.
“Nah, it was already furnitured when my dad bought it. The previous owner was a top designer so we were fortunate. My dad bought this house for half a million, which is quite reasonable, if you ask me.”
I choked in my own spit. Half a million?! I didn’t know the house was worth that much and this bloody fellow’s dad bought it like it’s nothing!
“You okay? Do you need some water?” he looked concerned. Honestly, why isn’t he like this in school?
“I’m fine, thanks. Thanks for the tour, so where will we be doing the project? In the reading room?”
“Nope, we’re doing it in my room.” he opened the door and gestured me to go in. Awkward. I went in, only to discover that his room isn’t like any normal teenage boy’s room, but then again, he’s not like any normal teenage boy, he’s a freaking multi-billionaire’s son. Big as half a football field, his room has everything a house has, a huge tv, king-sized bed, two desktop and a laptop, Wii, PS3, four PSP lying on his bed, a bathroom, a mini library and a mini fridge.
“Wow… Your room is just… Wow.”
“Thanks.” Hyung Jun said, sheepishly. He grabbed my bag along with his and threw them on his bed. Almost immediately, we begin researching for our project.
Hyung Jun searched for more details on his desktop for our assignment while I cramped the textbook for the general notes. It’s been a few hours and we managed to fill a few pages of the folio. My eyes and hands are sore from the research and Hyung Jun is complaining of his neck pain from staring at the monitor for too long. I didn’t realised that it’s late until I heard my cellphone ringing.
Mojilke, geureohke, amureohji anhge. Mudeom deom hage, dam dam hage nae gyeoteul tteona ganayo~
“Yoboseyo?” I answered, Hyung Jun turned away from the monitor and gave a curious look.
“Choi Yeon Jun! Where are you? Do you have any idea what time it is?! I am so worried sick young lady!” I helf the phone a meter away from my ear, but her booming can still be heard. Hyung Jun gave an evil grin. Damn.
I checked my wristwatch, the two hands display 7.45 p.m. I’ve been here for four hours straight! No wonder my mom’s so worried.
“I’m sorry, mom. I guess I let time slip away. I’m at my friend’s place doing an assignment. I guess I forgot to call.”
“Don’t repeat this again, I’m warning you, Yeon Jun. Come back for dinner.” She hung up before I could say anything. I’m in so much trouble. I’ve never heard my mom this angry before.
“Need a ride home?” Hyung Jun asked politely, cocking an eyebrow at my direction. I’m surprised at his considerate nature. He’s being so nice all for the sake of the assignment? In that case, I hope Mrs. Im would assign us more projects for the whole year.
“Thanks. I really appreciate it.” I smiled. He got off his seat and pressed a button on the intercom. I packed my things while Hyung Jun talked to his driver.
“Leave the notes. I’ll summarise them up later and bring them to school tomorrow.” he said, smiling. I would give him a tight hug if he weren’t such an arrogant, schizophrenic rich hottie.
We walked down the staircase to the front foor before being stopped by Eunnie.
“Brother, where are you going? Dinner will be ready in 10 minutes-. Oh hello unnie, what are you doing here?” Eunnie asked. Hyung Jun and I looked at each other and then turned to Eunnie.
“I’m sending Yeon Jun home-” he answered.
“I was here for a history project-” I answered.
“See you later, bye Eunnie.” we both answered.
We ran to the limo and quickly went in. We were in such a rush I didn’t realised that Hyung Jun was sitting so closely beside me. His aroma filled the air, he smells wonderful, like freshly used soap. I mentally slap myself once again. What is wrong with me? I barely know the guy, I shouldn’t be like this, just because he’s good-looking. It’s so shallow.
I told the driver, Hong Dae, the direction to my house, though I only told him the name of the street and not the actually address of my house. Hong Dae nodded.
“Sorry for the trouble.” I said. Hyung Jun turned away from the window and looked at my for a few seconds, wide eyed. Then he turned to the window again.
“Don’t worry about it.” he answered lazily.
“So… What were you and Micky talked about so discreetly after school?” I asked, he looked up.
“When?”
“You know, you were waiting at the end of the hall, near the library. Chibi, Micky and I were talking, but you suddenly called Micky over. And then he gave me his books and ran towards you. You two started taking and you took out your phone and started pressing some buttons. And then-”
“Okay, I get it. You don’t have to go and tell a story.” I closed my mouth. Hyung Jun took a few deep breaths, as if debating with himself. Seconds passed then he looked at me with those beautiful intense eyes of his.
“So are you going to tell me?”
“No.” he simply answered. But before I could ask why, Hong Dae said we’ll be arriving the my street in a few minutes. Hyung Jun went back staring at the window and I decided to let him off the hook this time.
Hong Dae stopped the limo at a street near my house. The reason why I didn’t tell them the location of my house is because I’m a little embarrassed of what he’ll think of me when he sees my home. He might treat me differently if he finds out, or worse, what if he tells Ara? The horror!
“Hey, we’re here. By the way, your face is all pale. Maybe you should see a doctor.” he said. I came back to my senses and grabbed my bag.
“Err… I’m fine, really. Thanks for the ride.” I opened the door and go out. Hyung Jun wind down his window and poked his head out.
“Why did you want us to stop here? We can drive all the way to your house. Hong Dae doesn’t mind.”
“Oh, that’s okay. My house is quite far in and the condition of the road is terrible, they’re still doing renovations. That’s why Chibi and I take the subway.” I half-lied. He cocked his eyebrow again. Damn. I’m such a lousy liar.
“Whatever you say, goodnight.”
“Goodnight to you too. Thanks again for the ride and to Hong Dae too.” Hyung Jun nodded and wind up his window. I watched the limo disappear into the darkness and marched back to my house. I grew nervous with each step I take, terrified of what my mom would do to me once I’m inside the house. My mom hardly gets mad, but if she does, she makes incredibly hulk look like a timid hamster. Only a few more inches left, I walked up the stairs to the front door and dug for my keys, putting it inside the keyhole, twisting it, making a click sound indicating the lock is open, I took the key and twisted the doorknob, with a heavy heart, the front door opened wide and I stepped into the house with a gloomy feeling.
“Mom? I’m home.” I closed the door slowly behind me. There was no response. I wonder where my mom is. I decided to go up to my room and clean up before taking my dinner. On the way up to my room, I saw my mom sleeping on the couch with the tv on. I switched off the tv and put a warm blanket over her, careful not to wake her up. As I was about to head for my room again, I heard my mom said, “I’m only letting you off the hook this time, young lady.” I was so scared, I quickly ran up to my room and locked the door.
*
My mom got used to me going to Hyung Jun’s house after school that she has forgotten she was mad at me for not calling her. Thank goodness. One week has passed and Hyung Jun and I have been doing our assignment in his house for one week straight. With another week left, Hyung Jun and I are working even harder to finish it quickly before the deadline so that we can pass it up quickly and finally get some rest and hang out.
“Hey, I think we can finish this by tomorrow and pass it up on Wednesday.” Hyung Jun said before assembly. I was delighter to hear the good news.
“You think so? That’s great! I’m so fed up with history, I kept having dreams about pyramids.” Hyung Jun laughed, his nose wrinkled and his eyes became smaller. He looks so adorable. After assembly, Chibi and Micky joined us to the library because it was free period. On the way to the library, I remembered that I left my notebook in my locker.
“You guys go ahead, I’m just gonna go back and grab my notebook.”
The three heads nodded and continued walking while I walked the opposite direction. I opened my locker and took my notebook, suddenly my locker slammed itself shut. I jumped in shocked and saw a manicured hand on my locker.
“What do you want, Ara?” I asked, glaring at her. She was wearing a mocking face while her two clones fold their arms.
“You know, I’ve sacrificed myself so much for Hyung Jun.”
“What are you talking about?” I don’t like where this is going.
“Baby, I’m talking about having to accept that you, of all people, is Hyung Jun’s partner for two whole weeks. I don’t know how I can take it, knowing that you’re with my Junnie, doing who knows what. If you ask me, Mrs. Im should get her brain checked for assigning you as Hyung Jun’s partner. You’re not worthy enough to be his partner.”
“Worthy enough? Excuse me? Do you think you’re the queen of England or somehing?”
“Close.” Ara grinned, flipping her hair.
“Wake up, Ara. Hyung Jun is not yours, he is not an object that you can simply buy with daddy’s credit card. Why don’t you save this information into that brain of yours if you have one? And we’re our history assignment, stupid. What else would we be doing?”
“Oh poor Yeon Jun. Pity, naive Yeon Jun. By the end of this week, I will make him mine. I bet he only accepter you as his partner is because he feels sorry for you. Sorry that you’re not me!” she gave a high pitched laugh, her clones immitating her. She flipped her hair and walking away, still laughing like a banshee.
My face grew hot, my hands start shaking uncontrollably. I took deep breaths, trying to control my anger. Who does Ara think she is?!
I waited for a few seconds to cool down before heading back to the library. With every step, my legs seemd to use more force and speed as I stomped to my destination. My hands still shaking and my face, hot enough to fry an egg. Not that I want to cook an egg on my face or anything.
I opened the library and saw the gang sitting at the end of the library, surrounded by mountains of books. I walked to their table, bitting my lips to avoid any sudden outburst. I took an empty seat next to Chibi and threw my notebook on the table, making a loud ‘thud’ sound. The three of them jumped in shock and stared at me. Thank goodness the librarian is partially deaf, or else I’ll be in a heap of trouble.
“What’s wrong?” Chibi asked.
“Why is your face all red?” Micky asked.
“Why are you hands shaking so violently?” Hyung Jun asked.
I didn’t answer them. Instead, I grabbed Chibi’s thick cotton jacket, slammed it to my face and screamed at the top of my lungs.
